Anonymous asked: maybe you don't know, so I suggest you to find a copy of "Lumiere et Compagnie", to sit down, and to watch it calmly, especially Mister Van Dormael 52 seconds...

You made me smile, I didn’t expect such a wonderful suggestion!

I read about Lumière et compagnie a couple of years ago and I found the idea fascinating. For those of you who don’t know, it’s a movie celebrating the 100th anniversary since the Lumière brothers invented the camera. The directors involved in the project had to make short movies (52 seconds) using the original equipment from the 19th century. Unfortunately this movie is very hard to find, so I have only seen parts of it, Jaco van Dormael’s film included (it’s a simple, yet very beautiful and emotional scene).

If you could tell me where I can find the whole Lumière et compagnie, I’d be very thankful!

Ps. You may have noticed that I haven’t posted anything about Jaco van Dormael’s short movies. It’s because I feel very conscious about them- they are so strong as a whole and I don’t like interfering with them.

trapped-between-the-book-covers asked: Wow, an entire blog dedicated to my favourite film! I love it! Why haven't I discovered you before?? You are awesome! :)

Thank you! To be fair it’s a quite new blog :))

I’m so glad there’re people out there who love this movie as much as I do, I always got the feeling that it is a bit underrated.  “Mr. Nobody” is my favorite film too, so I gotta say you have a great taste! But I also have a few things planned with “Toto the Hero” and “The Eight Day”. I don’t know if you saw them, they are from the same director. Anyways, I hope you’ll have as much fun with this blog as I do!

Best regards and thank you for the nice message once again!
